Steven E. Slikkers, MD

Dr. Slikkers graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California, and completed his residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

In addition to Gastric Bypass/Bariatric Surgery, his special interests include Breast Surgery, Colon Surgery, Colonoscopy, Endocrine Surgery, Hernia Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, Skin Cancer, and Thyroid Disorders.

Dr. Slikkers joined Grand Traverse Surgery in July 2004. He was raised in Holland, Michigan, and was eager to practice in Traverse City because “there’s no other place like northern Michigan.”

Dr. Slikkers enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Holly, have three children, Reilly, Brienna, and Devon. When he’s not caring for patients, he likes to spend time fly-fishing, hunting, snowboarding, and riding motorcycles.

Dr. Slikkers became a surgeon because “there’s no higher calling than to serve people who need a healing hand. Being a surgeon is both humbling and rewarding when you can help change a life. There’s no greater gift than to give someone a new life.”
